The T1550 provides fast cruising in comfort with the ability to club or passage race at speed. The keel is deep draft for that extra performance edge with a hydraulic hoist to reduce the draft for cruising. The large cockpit is ideal for both racing and cruising yet provides ample room below decks with three double cabins, two with ensuites, great galley, navigation and entertaining area.
The dinette comfortably sits 8 for exquisite dining.
This boat is built to cross-oceans in style yet provides all the benefits of a performance orientated race boat demanded by the discerning sailor of today.
The T1550 is set up for two modes of sailing. Cruising with the self-tacking jib, roller furler code 0 and medium roached mainsail with no backstay.
The mainsail and jib sheets are both controlled by self-tailing electric winches in the cockpit making tacking and sail handling a breeze.
The mainsail is housed in a carbon fiber in-boom furling system with the halyard controlled by an electric winch. The keel can be raised and lowered by an electrically operated hydraulic in keel system.
All sail controls are located in the aft “sailing cockpit”.
In full race mode the boat is transformed into a grand prix racer for round the buoys and passage racing.
The No. 1 jib overlap’s the mast and provides that extra grunt for great light air performance. Sailing the boat downwind with the bow pole extended to 1.8 meter using the large asymmetric spinnaker provides for exhilarating sailing at speed.
Masthead twin backstays are used to control the mainsail shape, forestay and provide support for the masthead spinnakers.
This boat can also be optimized for rules racing such as the IMS and IRC rules with the use of a conventional spinnaker pole and custom designed asymmetric spinnakers developed from our wind tunnel and VPP testing.
